Taping Fresh Flowers

Taping fresh or silk flowers is one of the most important parts of working in the floral business.  It is really easier than it looks.  The tape stretches as you twist it around stems and works like glue to hold floral products together.

Here, I show how to hold the tape with one finger and use the other hand to pull the tape around the stem.

As you pull the tape, it will stretch.  Make sure you pull to stretch or the tape will look terrible.  This in many ways shows the professional from the amateur. You have seen corsages with unnaturally thick stems.    And remember in the floral business, whether you do every piece or not, it still has your name on it.

Practice makes perfect.  If you do not want to waste flowers, practice on branches from the yard.
