Fresh Cut Hydrangea

Hydrangea's come in white, pink and blue.  Fresh cut or dried, these flowers make beautiful bouquets.  Growers dip these flowers in solutions to help harden and hold water before shipping.  If you are picking these out of your yard for use, the instructions below will help.

To condition hydrangea's, dip cut stems into alum powder (this powder is found at your local drug store and sometimes used to preserve fruits) and place in very warm water.  Remove and place in water at room temperature for several hours before working into your arrangement.
