How To Make Fall Flower Sway

To start this swag, we have glued ultra foam onto a piece of cardboard cut from a box. A wire is strung through the foam to make a loop and use to hang when finished.

Here, we used two cattails and took fall leaves from a sunflower bush and fill in the sides.

To refresh your skills, always aim each piece inserted into the swag, towards the middle of block of foam. I pretend there is a X in the middle and aim towards this X from any angle the flowers are inserted. Also swags are made in layers from the bottom up. You will insert any products into the outer foam first, on the outer sides and build from there.

Next step is to take a bush of sunflowers, cut stems to insert into foam. Use hot glue as pieces are added to help secure flowers. Next we have taken apples, fall berries and stems of large fall ivy leaves and added to center.

Final step is to group wheat and cut wheat in half. Tie top half of wheat and insert into top side of swag. Second half is tied and inserted into bottom side. Now hang on your wall or door and enjoy.

This idea is also great for low centerpieces on your dinning table.
